It is such a shame that Nathan Sawaya’s new show is in New York and not in London as his art is truly fascinating and is using LEGOS bricks. I have a particular and secret love for those bricks which always take me back to sweet and happy childhood memories and playful moments.
Nathan Sawaya’s art consists of peculiar sculptures made out of LEGO bricks, often complex and definitely thoughtful. The artist is trying to get his message through.
From the artist: “The primary medium for my work is LEGO® plastic bricks, something familiar to many of us from childhood yet which I have found has infinite artistic possibilities as well.  In my current work, which is the focus of my new exhibition, I confound many of the expectations people may have when they consider my medium, exploring a sense of being trapped, haunted by the human spirit in my art yet constantly faced with the commercialism of the medium I have chosen to work in.”
