Ralph Lauren launches an open-call competition with a chance to win a commission-based award and placement within a mentorship program with some of Europe’s top talent!

THE BRIEF:
Following the success of the 2010 campaign, Ralph Lauren Polo Jeans Co. has launched an international, open-call competition for 2011 which will provide the 16 successful young artists with a career development opportunity consisting of a commission-based project and a week-long in-studio session under the guidance of an ART STARS mentor.

Aimed at young artists and designers, applicants are encouraged to submit a proposal which draws on Americana imagery interpreted through the artist’s own practice. Mediums may include painting, photography, video, light, sound and text, as well as experimental approaches including 3D and performance.

A total of 16 successful candidates will experience working in a mentor’s studio to create their own star, which will subsequently be exhibited in a store-front exhibition and an in-store event in the world’s most important cities. Winners will receive a denim canvas to work on, a €1,000 commission prize and €500 for material costs.
