I went down to Dray Walk gallery this week end to check out the NEW ERA XC show – a creative project solely dedicated to the baseball cap.

This show is to celebrate NEW ERA 90th birthday and on this occasion 90 NEW ERA XC commemorative boxes have been produced, each of them containing a blank New Era 59FIFTY hat (see picture).

They then sent them to a selection of graduate artists and designers from the best school designs out there.

What is very good about this project and must have been a serious incentive for trying to put some awesome ideas out there, is the £10,000 bursary at stake.

We can now reveal the winner – Craig Green with his rather weird some might say wonderful customized cap (see picture).

A quick word about the gallery itself, it is a great space located in the Old Truman Brewery. The style is sober and simple but very airy with large windows which let light floods in (provided it is a sunny day obviously).

Craig Green's creation

This exhibition will run in 5 different cities in Europe, if you did not go down to the gallery this week end, you have missed the London date as the show ran for only two days but you can still catch it up, jump on a plane now!

Next dates:
Berlin: November 12 –13 at CircleCulture Gallery, Gipstraße 11, 10119
Milan: November 19 – 21 at Spazi Originale, Via Savona 55a, 20144
Barcelona: November 26 – 27 at Angels, C. Dels Angels, 16 08001

I would not have gone for Craig Green’s creation personally. See shots below of my favourites ones!
