We are over the moon to be involved once again in the Pancakes & Booze pop up art show. We actually will be running from now on the London event so watch this space.

The second edition is taking place again at Studio Spaces E1 in East London on Thursday, 7th of April 2016.

This second edition promises to be even better than the first one with more and more talented artists eager to show their beautiful creations.

While talented DJs will be throwing tunes, we also have a few live art happenings on the night. We particularly look forward to see Mark Petty in action. Mark will produce screenprints on the night which will be up for sale.

And as always, there will be pancakes getting flipped over all night. Just queue and get your free pancakes.

Pancake batter is sizzling, beer froth is flowing, and bare flesh is slathered in paint. Indie musicians and DJs break sound waves off the canvas-lined, graffiti-strewn walls, while revelers stuff their faces with endless amounts of free pancakes.

The Pancakes & Booze Art Show is an LA based artist movement that started in 2009 and has quickly spread to over 20+ cities throughout North America.

They currently organise some of the largest pop-up underground art showcases in the country, with the best local emerging artists, musicians, and performers each city has to offer.

Happy Easter, related street art and graffiti around the globe

Aww Easter… Always a good time, not so much for the religious aspect but rather more for the bank holiday weekend and looming indulgence of chocolate bunnies and eggs.

Another thing to look out for are many Easter-themed street art and graffiti works. We browsed the web and compiled a small collection for your eyes only.

Katrina Rupit new show at Westbank gallery

Kathrina was born in Mexico City and studied visual arts and photography at the University of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Her native country means that her work is infused with a rich vitality and a colourful exuberance. As an Urban artist, she produces work which is perhaps softer and more lyrical than her male contemporaries. She has a deep admiration for iconic female figures, especially her compatriot Frida Kahlo.

Over the last couple of years Kathrina has lived and worked in Dublin, Ireland and has become a vital fixture of the vibrant street art scene there.

Kathrina uses an array of mediums to achieve an extraordinary effect – From spray paints, newspaper collage and urban markers to assemblage of cardboard, door parts and even Popsicle sticks. She is constantly challenging the means of urban representation, reinventing the genre in a feminist context.

Her work is deeply tied to her Mexican roots, addressing social issues such as racial discrimination and embracing a culture without the curse of violence and gangs.

She is the voice of a new generation, producing artwork that is bold and seductive. Like Frida before her, she is conscious of the innate power of her gender. She excites the male gaze with her portraits being alive with a raw sexual energy. They are alluring and even provocative.

Kathrina’s technical ability and artistic representational skill are first rate, creating both an awareness of environmental issues and tapping into the Mexican concept of the cycle of life, seen in the celebration of ‘Dia de los Muertos’.

The physicality of life in Kathrina’s work is seen in her numerous performances and live events, which is a crucial aspect of her practice. She wants the work to be alive, she wants the audience to see the process in action and feel the creative energy as it happens.

Spray cans sculptures

We instantly fell in love when we first saw these little wonders of sculpture. Kresimir Buden 2Fast is the sculptor behind these creations which obviously are graffiti inspired.

The artist is based in Zagreb (Croatia) and use various brands of spray cans from Montana to Ironlak. You will have noticed the Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans version amongst others.

I do not know for you but we particularly like the green one. What about you?
