Inside Stolen Space and looking around Usugrow’s artwork and it is obvious to me: if you are into black and white with punk rock visuals such as skulls and roses, you may well forget the price tags and get the gallery staff to immediately stick up one of those red stickers next to your favorite piece.
I was as excited to find out about Stolen Space as I was to find out about Jabo Monk’s new works. Both did not dissapoint. I like the sobriety of the venue with that quirky artwork of roads signs outside the gallery – nice touch. This out of the way let’s now focus on Jaybo and his unique manner of using spray paint, acrylics and tar sands (also known as oil sands).
If you like street art or graffiti, you know that you should find some good stuff at Lazarides as these guys have been around for a while and primarily sell this type of art. Artists such as Antony Micallef or Jamie Hewlett to name just a few have seen their first artwork being sold by Lazarides.
If you read my post about digital painting, you may have got that ART-PIE believes in the ‘get your hands dirty’ approach when it comes to make art. Get your brushes, pencils, spray paint cans, anything and everything and get physical with the whole lot to get that unique feeling of satisfaction when finally the idea that was stuck in your head for a while is now right there in front of you and ready to be seen by others.
There is an app for just about everything’ they say so I was not surprised to find out about that app called ‘Brushes’, your new tool for creating original artwork on your mobile device. Not interested at first, my keen interest for the i-phone convinced me to keep on reading about it.
A Group Show – Never A Dull Moment Curated by iO Wright at White Walls, San Francisco is now underway and I wish I could jump on the plane right now and go and enjoy it with my own eyes.
The collective of artists have all got a graffiti art background and have been asked to continously create and express themselves and they have been using all sort of mediums: short film, sculpture, installation, … everything and anything is on display here.
