Invaders goes deep and high

Invader‘s trademark, the so recognisable pixelated alien character from the even more famous arcade game from the 80’s has been seen by a large amount of people on street corners across the world. The monster has now taken a dip in the ocean and can be seen deep down in the water.

Invader teamed up with sculptor Jason Taylor deCaires, known for his underwater sculptures, and stuck his characters of Jason’s works. The result is pretty surreal and I would like to get my scuba diving gear on and have a look at it.

Invader also went high, very high in the space. The artist engineered a device that propelled the alliens to back to where they belong, space. Luckily for us, Invaders thought of equipped the device with a camera so we can enjoy the astonishing pictures below.

Last but not least, we have included a video “Green Invaders” is a light installation by the French artist Yves Caizergues, based on the classic video game Space Invaders. It formed part of the 2012 Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, where the streets of Toronto, Canada are given over to a festival of street art. This installation was outside the Sun Life Financial Tower at 150 King Street West.

La Pandilla art : morphology

We have come across La Pandilla art and have liked very much the uniqueness of it. The recurrent theme it’d seem is the animal morphology: different species of animals are blended together creating totally unique specimens.

Definitely odd at first, this approach appears powerful and give the viewer plenty to think of what and why we look the way we are. You will find a few examples of their work below.

Stencil republic, be a street artist

If the thought of having to go out there at night, hood on and a few cans in the pockets seems to you just not doable, the new Stencil Republic book, by London-based creative studio Ollystudio’s Oliver Walker and published by Laurence King, may be your alternative.

Hours of fun and feeling of being a street artist, uh within the safe walls of your living room or bedroom, whatver this is a great toy.

Here is what street artist AIKO has to day about the whole thing, ‘This is something you cannot learn at school. It doesn’t matter whether it is commissioned or unauthorised, painting in the dirty alley, on postal stickers, canvases, store signs, outdoor murals, you have to feel it, jump in, don’t stop and…have fun.’

Global Model Village, the new show and book by Slinkachu

Street sculptor and photographer, Slinkachu has been busy putting together his new show, Global Model Village, which opens September 27th at Andipa Gallery in London. It will feature a mix of installations placed in different cities around the world over the past couple of years.

But that is not all since the show coincides with the launch of his new book also called – incidentally also called Global Model Village which collects together 50 different installations left in cities such as New York, Moscow, Cape Town, Paris, Beijing, Hong Kong and of course London.

Slinkachu followers will have seen most of the images but it is worth noticing that the sets of photographs from his last show at Fame Festival in Italy and from his solo show last year in Germany may be less familiar so get preordering the UK version, or see the Slinkachu website for other countries

El-Seed paints the Jara mosque

Tunisia has been the stage lately of a surge of intolerability towards creativity and especially towards anything to do with a spray can. As a result, the French-born Tunisian graffiti artist El-Seed took action.

The result is Tunisia’s largest mural but what matters above all is the the location; he painted on the country’s tallest minaret, at the Jara Mosque, located in the industrial city of Gabes. Pictures after the fold.

Here is what El-seed says about the project “I decided to do the mural because it was close to my heart. It had been a while I had wanted to paint a wall in Gabes,” the artist told Ahram Online.

“The primary purpose was, and is, to inspire people to get together and build community around positive action,” El-Seed told Ahram Online via email. “

The mural, which has been embraced with open arms by the mosque’s Imam, was painted on the 57-metre high minaret, and is meant as a message of tolerance and mutual respect.

El-Seed got interestd in the art of graffiti back in 1998 in Paris, where he spent his childhood. Later, when he moved to North America, he started combining graffiti with his passion for Arabic calligraphy (usually associated with the Quran and religious scripture). The artist likes to mix traditional script and contemporary pop-culture, giving birth to a distinctive urban graffiti.
