Artists pick from the 2012 London art fair – part1
If there is one art fair I have been and do not want to miss from now on, is the London Art Fair (LAF). Why is that? Just simply because it presents over 100 galleries featuring the great names of 20th century British art and exceptional contemporary work from leading figures and emerging talent.
Added to that, there are always a bunch of solo shows and curated group displays in the Art Projects section and even a showcase for contemporary photography. You’ll have understood by now, the LAF is my Thorpe park as a kid; always eager to go and never willing to go home once in it.

About Salvador Dali
Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marqués de Dalí de Pubol (11 May 1904 – 23 January 1989), known as Salvador Dalí (Catalan: [səɫβəˈðo ðəˈɫi]; Spanish: [salβaˈðoɾ ðaˈli]), was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain.
Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in August 1931. Dalí’s expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media.
Dalí attributed his “love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes”to an “Arab lineage”, claiming that his ancestors were descended from the Moors.
Dalí was highly imaginative, and also enjoyed indulging in unusual and grandiose behavior. His eccentric manner and attention-grabbing public actions sometimes drew more attention than his artwork, to the dismay of those who held his work in high esteem, and to the irritation of his critics.
Educational Project in Zanzibar needs you
Everybody stops what they are doing and keep on reading, this will be worthwhile.
I would like to draw your attention to some amazing educational projects that focus on using the performing arts as a tool to teach literacy and also provide children and young adults with expressive confidence. GETheatre is behind this initiative that has now been running for a few years worldwide.
But there is a catch, for these workshops to happen, they need your support. The one that requires an injection of cash as soon as possible is the project that will be based in Zanzibar later this year.

GETheatre has been working in Zanzibar since 2006, providing secondary school students with intensive English literacy training workshops using devised theatre techniques.
Typically programs run for two weeks at each school and involve facilitating a group of 20 – 25 students through dramatic activities towards devising a performance. Read more about what GETheatre is doing across the globe.

We were delighted to receive in the postStickerbomb Skulls, the latest stickers book of the superb collaboration between Studio Rarekwai and publishers Laurence King. I do not know for you guys but we like skulls ,we are not some sort of human Predator, no. We just like skulls being used in art and even more in stickers. You can imagine our excitement when we found out that this latest book theme is about… skulls!

Space-Themed Stamps
Royal Mail is to release a unique series of stamps, the theme : Space. This is to marked the 50th anniversary of Britain’s first contribution to space exploration—and Britain’s launch of its first satellite.
Osborne Ross is behind this set of stamps which depicts The Sun, Saturn, Saturn’s largest moon Titan, the Lutetia asteroid, Venus and Mars. The images featured were from European Space Agency missions.

MEGGS “Inner Demons” Exhibition at Red Bull Studios
Australian artist MEGGS’s first show outside his native country is opening tomorrow, 23rd June 2010 at the Red Bull Studios and is called “Inner Demons.”
The show will have two main aspects: MEGGS’s exploration of “fears fears, desires, and obstacles each person faces within themselves” but also an insight into his process when making art through a series of photographs and references to what he does and use in that very process.
Expect screenprints, canvases, paintings and collages. Take a look below at one of his pieces as well as the documentary made as a preview for the show
