Centuries-Old Japanese Woodblock Prints Meet Animated GIFs

We’ve all seen these ancient centuries-old technique of prints, what about mixing some GIF animation and totally change how you see the art.

The artist is Segawa Atsuki, who uses Adobe Photoshop and After Effects to create the movement which often clashes with the subject background and throw in some Sci-File wonders.

We like the “Segways” one! The last one is a cracker too!

The Super Flemish Pop Icons by Sacha Goldberger

Sacha Goldberger is a French photographer born in 1968. He has worked as artistic director in several well-known agencies. Otherwise, he has written and worked on many books and is now known all around the world.

He became famous especially for his photo series “Mamika”, a grandmother superhero performing tasks of daily life. Mamika, the real grandmother of Sasha, is quite a funny person.

The artist latest exhibition, which was recently held an exhibition at the School Gallery Paris was entitled “Super Flemish” and transform Pop Culture icons into the style of 16th Century Flemish aristocrats.

You will recognise Hulk or Spiderman but also Star Wars characters.

ArtiLinki – next meet up on the 21st feb – London

ArtLinki | Social network dedicated to artists from all kind of artistic fieldsWe have recently partnered with ArtiLink, a young business who has created a social network dedicated to artists from all kind of artistic fields, creative professionals or cultural structures. Their website offers them one more visibility solution for free and it is also possible to buy a premium account to increase his visibility. Artists can put all the medium they want on their profiles and their actualities, and follow the people or structures they like to be informed of their projects.

From Charlotte Canario, artistic creation – “Our goal is to create links between arts, people and their different activities, that is why we organize meetings each month in Lyon since a year and a half where people can gather them, bring their books and share about their projects, in a convivial way !

The meeting begins usually at 19 pm and ends around 23 pm.  The first part of the meeting is for networking, then a second part is dedicated to a showcases, where 5 or 6 people (artists, associations, musicians…etc.) come to present their work to the gathering. It can take the form of a concert, a performance, a PowerPoint presentation, a dance show… We try to mix as most as possible the fields of intervention!

The first ArtLinki meet up of 2013 is this Thursday 21st February and is taking place at StrongRooms and what a program they have put together!

RUN has hit the walls of Village Underground

Artist RUN just finished his piece on the walls of the Village Underground project space and has kindly sent in a few pictures which are shown below. This commission came as a bit of a surprise for the artist since the guys at VU rang him at the last minute and asked him whether he would like to fill the 6 days off advertising gap by painting the outside walls

The job took about 5 hours and depicts one of classic RUN’s feaure already seen across London streets and beyond.
