“it s related to a sensitive subject happened a while ago but still very fresh over there..as u probably know the gosl( gov of sri lanka) has been at war with the LTTE for the past 25 yrs and the struggle culminated in 2009 with the defeat of the tigers and the killing of 40000 innocent tamils.
In my recent visit I had the chance to go ( briefly..for safety reasons) to eelam( the north east part of lanka) and speak to a few people. the situation there is still really bad and people are being abused on a daily basis.Even for tourist like me the situation has changed lately since the gosl has kicked out All NGOs and any white ( westerner) is seen as a pro tamil therefore pro tigers . roadblock are every few hundreds meters , passport controls and questions…the project is based on the sorrow of the genocide that the government inflicted on the tamil minority and I tried to keep it impartial ( not supporting the tigers) during the war the un was told safety for their troops was not guaranteed (???) and therefore they left leaving no one to monitor the cruelties that happened there in the last months of the war .
I m not the best person to explain the whys and hows of the situation but a quick history search will show that the tigers were not the real problem of lanka but the diversity os the tamil ( favoured by the british during colonization for speaking better english and being better at their duties and the sinhalese community , and their non capability of living together .From what I ve seen the problem is still there , the north- east areas are a huge military base ( I myself started getting really uncomfortable about the situation and that lead me to do less painting that what I intentionally wanted to )
I hope my paintings raise some issues about the validity of the UN and the indifference of the nations that are part of it. I must admit when I heard that this crew, originally from France, were heading down under I completely geeked out.
We have been big fans of DMV, seeing pieces from them go up in Paris, Barcelona and their epic wall at London’s Meeting Of Styles.
Even though the show at Rtist gallery is a great way to see each artists individual style, the true abilities of this crew shine when they collaborate on big walls.
It seems that everything came together for them here in Melbourne, the weather was great and the wall they were given was in China Town a unique and oddly appropriate setting.

At first, I misread what Dunn, aka Dan Ericson was all about. I indeed confused “signtologist” with “scientologist” and was about to move on when painted road signs caught my eyes and made me read twice. “Signtologist” it was. Not surprising to get mixed up here, who has ever heard of this term?
Roots MC, Black Thought would have apparently dubbed him back in 2005, the Signtologist, which Dan Ericson would eventually keep as its “artist” name. But what does it mean?
You may have guessed by now that it has to do with signs, and especially roads signs that he recycles into unique homages to the musicians, actors, public figures and athletes that inspire him.

What Nikita Nomerz needs to make his art are walls but not just any wall. His preference goes towards dilapidates ones with broken windows or any sort of holes which he will use in his compositions often depicting a laughing face.
Along a few pictures of his work, I have included below a time lapse video which shows Nikita Nomerz painting one of his now recognizable face somewhere in Russia
He says: “I started in school with classic hip hop graffiti but became more interested in street art and began all sorts of experiments. Now basically I like to play with space and objects. I am inspired by the place itself. I love watching the city and finding an interesting point. Usually I do not spend so much time to create one work, sometimes less than an hour.
